Moroni asks Pahoran to
strengthen the forces of Helaman—The Lamanites take the city of Nephihah—Moroni
is angry with the government. About 62 B.C.
Moroni received Helaman’s epistle. After reading it, he was pleased with what he
read. He appreciated Helaman’s success
in obtaining lost cities. He shared the epistle with all the people.
He promptly sent an epistle to Parhoran, the chief
judge. He wanted men to reinforce
Helaman’s army. With those troops, it
would be easier to hold the lands he retook.
Moroni than began preparing plans to retake the lands and
cities the lands held by the Lamanites. While he was preparing, the people of Nephihah,
Moroni, and Morianton, cities attacked by the Lamanites.
Some in those cities had joined the Lamanites. They increased the strength of the Lamanite
army. With his stronger army, Ammoron
attacked Nephihah. Many were killed
during the attack. The survivors fled to
safety.
Moroni realized once the Lamanites took the city, retaking
the city would be a major challenge. He
was disappointed when the Lamanites took Nephihah. Because of the wickedness of some people, the
city was lost.
Moroni was upset with the government. They ignored his requests for troops and
provisions. He was tired of their
indifference towards those fighting the war.
