The Book of Mormon is:
— “Another Testament
of Jesus Christ.” Its major writers — Nephi, Jacob, Mormon, Moroni — and its
translator, Joseph Smith, were all eye-witnesses of the Lord.
“And also to the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus
is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations” (emphasis
mine) (Title Page of the Book of Mormon).
Nephi
“And being thus overcome with the Spirit, [Lehi] was carried
away in a vision, even that he saw the heavens open, and he thought he saw God
sitting upon his throne, surrounded with numberless concourses of angels in the
attitude of singing and praising their God.
“And it came to pass that he saw One descending out of the
midst of heaven, and he beheld that his luster was above that of the sun at
noon-day” (emphasis mine) (1 Nephi 1:8-9).
“For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto
the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved”
(Emphasis mine) (1 Nephi 6:4).
“And I [Nephi] looked and beheld the virgin again, bearing a
child in her arms.
“And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even
the Son of the Eternal Father” (emphasis mine) (1 Nephi 11:20-21).
“And I [Nephi] saw the heavens open, and the Lamb
of God descending out of heaven; and he came down and showed himself
unto them [the Nephites]” (emphasis mine) (1 Nephi 12:6).
“And now I, Nephi, write more of the words of Isaiah, for my
soul delighteth in his words. For I will liken his words unto my people, and I
will send them forth unto all my children, for he verily saw my Redeemer, even as I
have seen him” (emphasis mine) (2 Nephi 11:2)
Jacob
“And he also has shown unto me [Jacob] that the
Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, should manifest himself unto them in the
flesh; and after he should manifest himself they should scourge him and
crucify him, according to the words of the angel who spake it unto me”
(emphasis mine) (2 Nephi 6:9).
“Wherefore, as I [Jacob] said unto you, it must needs be expedient that
Christ—for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should
be his name—should come among the Jews” (emphasis mine) (2 Nephi 10:13).
“And my brother, Jacob, also has seen him as I have seen him”
(emphasis mine) (2 Nephi 11:3).
“[T]he Messiah cometh in six hundred years from the time that my father
left Jerusalem; and according to the words of the prophets, and also
the word of the angel of God, his name shall be Jesus Christ, the Son of
God” (emphasis mine) (2 Nephi 25:19).
King Lamoni
“For as sure as thou livest, behold, I have seen my Redeemer”
(emphasis mine) (Alma 19:13)
Mormon
“And I, being fifteen years of age and being somewhat of a
sober mind, therefore I was visited of the Lord, and
tasted and knew of the goodness of Jesus” (emphasis mine) (Mormon 1:15).
The brother of Jared
“And it came to pass that when the brother of Jared had said
these words, behold, the Lord stretched forth his hand and touched the stones
one by one with his finger. And the veil was taken from off the eyes of the
brother of Jared, and he saw the finger of the Lord; and it was as the
finger of a man, like unto flesh and blood…
“And the Lord said unto him: Believest thou the words which
I shall speak?
“And he answered: Yea, Lord, I know that thou speakest the
truth, for thou art a God of truth, and canst not lie.
“And when he had said these words, behold, the
Lord showed himself unto him, and said: Because thou knowest these
things ye are redeemed from the fall; therefore ye are brought back into my
presence; therefore I show myself unto you” (emphasis mine) (Ether 3:6, 11-13).
Emer
“And after he had anointed Coriantum to reign in his stead
he lived four years, and he saw peace in the land; yea, and he
even saw the Son of Righteousness, and did rejoice and glory in his day;
and he died in peace” (emphasis mine) (Ether 9:22).
Moroni
“And then shall ye know that I [Moroni] have seen Jesus, and
that he hath talked with me face to face, and that he told me in plain
humility, even as a man telleth another in mine own language, concerning these

Joseph Smith
“I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me
bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and
glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake
unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!” (emphasis
